Why
Become a Member
Whether
you are a new Filipino-American, or if you are 1st, 2nd or
3rd generation, in your heart as a Filipino you love the
kinship of other Filipinos. Amongst the many other
wonderful traits our culture has to offer, is a sense of
family with our friends and more over a sense of friendship
in our families. The Katipunan offers an opportunity
to be a part of a larger Filipino community/extended
family, one full of fun events, cultural education, and
charitable causes. Over the last 30 years this
organization has grown in many aspects and we need you to continue
our important mission of not only educating the Maryland
area in general about who we are as Filipino-Americans, but
also give ourselves and future children a chance to truly
know their culture even if they can not experience it in the
Philippines.
Two
other motivating reasons to become a member are discounts
and food!! I'm sure these will appeal to you. If
you look at our events there is a clear difference in what a
member pays versus a non-member that equal savings over $200
per member. Not to mention the various other
benefits if you are a business owner when it comes to the
cost of advertising or having a booth at the 15,000 person
attended Filipino Festival in
Towson
,
MD
every June. As far as the food goes, there is
plenty of it! Through out the year there are many
opportunities to enjoy our cultures fantastic cuisine at events
such as Kids Day, the Festival, the Picnic, Anniversary Ball
and Simbang Gabi.
The
opportunity to impact you, your children and the community through
your culture is why we the Katipunan are here giving of
our time freely. We believe in Filipino family values
and culture. We hope that you will also show your
belief by not only joining our organization but also giving
of your time and heart to our mission.
